Brrr, it’s cold…

Whilst some of you might have been dreaming of a white Christmas we are really glad that the weather finally seems to be improving. The snow and cold weather has made life hard work for the last few days.

What with keeping water flowing to the cows and working to prevent milking equipment freezing up, it has certainly not been that much fun!

Despite the snowy roads we managed to get our staff in and our cheese despatched every day although Boxing Day saw our morning milking take until 12 noon due to the freezing conditions. We are normally finished by 8am! The team has been brilliant and everyone has approached the challenge with a cheery disposition. Thanks to all for their hard work.

John is our Head of Dairy Operations, responsible for making cheese and generally keeping the dairy and staff organised. Having worked with us for what he decribes as “ten backbreaking years”, John says what he loves most about his job is making cheese using the traditional methods. When he’s finished work for the day John can be found motorbiking, enjoying time by the sea with his family or drinking lager! His favourite Brue product is our Vintage Cheddar.
